Pak Nam Pho river confluence
Where the Ping meets the Nan, with riverside viewpoints and boats for hire. In flood season the two water colours are strikingly different. Best in the morning or late afternoon.
Bueng Boraphet
Thailand's largest freshwater lake, with tour boats, bird hides and a waterbird park. Migratory birds peak from November to March, and early morning or evening offers the most activity.
Wat Khiri Wong
A hilltop temple in the city with wide views over Nakhon Sawan and the river confluence, marked by a large Buddha image and a prominent white chedi.

Frequently asked questions
How long is Bangkok to Nakhon Sawan?
About three to three and a half hours for the 260 km via Phahonyothin and the Asian Highway, or four to five on Friday evenings and long weekends. An early start is smoothest.
What is included in ฿5,000?
Fuel, expressway and motorway tolls, the driver and bottled water. It is a flat one-way whole-vehicle price, not per passenger. Boat tours, meals and ฿500 per night driver accommodation are separate.
Is a day trip realistic?
Comfortably. Around seven hours of driving leaves roughly five hours on the ground — enough for Bueng Boraphet, the confluence and Wat Khiri Wong. A twelve-hour charter at ฿7,500 for a Commuter is the flexible option.
Can we stop in Nakhon Sawan on the way to Chiang Mai?
Yes — it is exactly midway and the best rest stop on that route. If you want to sightsee too, say so at booking, as it adds two to three hours and a daily charter may suit better.
When should we visit Bueng Boraphet for birds?
November to March, when migratory numbers peak. Go early, around 6 to 8am, or late from 4 to 6pm when birds are feeding. Book tour boats ahead on long weekends and bring a long zoom lens.
On a full-day charter, what if we go over the time or distance?
If the van and driver stay with your group all day (same-day return or sightseeing stops), packages start at 12 hours · 360 km (Commuter ฿7,500 / Alphard ฿18,000). Extra time is ฿300 per hour for the Commuter or ฿600 per hour for the Alphard, and extra distance is ฿25/km (Commuter) or ฿45/km (Alphard).
