Ao Nang Beach
Krabi's main beach with hotels, restaurants and shops, and the departure point for longtails to Railay and nearby islands. Crowded in the evening, so fix a clear pick-up point.
Railay and Phra Nang cave beach
A peninsula with no road access, reached by a fifteen-minute longtail from Ao Nang, with world-class limestone climbing and outstanding white sand.
Emerald Pool and hot springs
In Khlong Thom district about an hour from town. The Emerald Pool is a clear green forest pool, and the hot springs form warm cascades you can soak in.
Klong Jilad pier
The main ferry terminal for Phi Phi and Lanta, with only a few sailings a day. Arrive at least 45 minutes before departure for check-in and baggage.
Wat Tham Suea (Tiger Cave Temple)
A hilltop temple reached by 1,237 steep steps with panoramic views over Krabi. The climb takes one to two hours, so start early before the heat.
Shell Cemetery and Khao Khanab Nam
The Shell Cemetery is a rare coastal fossil bed, while Khao Khanab Nam's twin limestone peaks on the Krabi river are the provincial emblem, visited by boat from the town pier.

Frequently asked questions
How long is Bangkok to Krabi?
About eleven to thirteen hours for the 808 km including breaks. It is a very long drive, so we recommend two days with a night in Chumphon or Surat Thani for the safety of driver and passengers.
Is a van charter better value than flying?
Honestly, for two to four people flying into Krabi is cheaper and far quicker — fly and rent locally. For eight to ten with heavy luggage, ฿16,500 split is about ฿1,850 each and you keep the vehicle throughout, avoiding Krabi's expensive local charters.
What is included in ฿16,500?
Fuel, expressway and motorway tolls, the driver and bottled water. It is a flat one-way whole-vehicle price. Accommodation, meals, island boats, park fees and ฿500 per night driver accommodation are separate.
Can the van reach Railay?
No. Railay is a peninsula with no road access, reached by a fifteen-minute longtail from Ao Nang or Klong Jilad. We drop you at the pier and arrange the return pick-up; boat fares are paid at the pier.
When is the best time to visit Krabi?
November to April, when the Andaman is clear and calm and island tours run on full schedules. May to October is monsoon season with rough seas and occasional cancellations, though rooms are much cheaper and crowds thinner.
